"Our vision, our goal, is to build a future Hope for our women in Kenya, a place where they can always turn to be empowered, equipped and encouraged. We believe the purchasing of this property - this vocational center & safe house - will do just that, as it not only offers them, but also their children and grandchildren a place of ongoing safety & sustainability." -Julie Peyton, Executive Director
BUILDING HOPE CAMPAIGN DETAILS:
We are adding a two-story structure on top of the existing school on the church property to house the vocational center and safe house. This is an extensive and costly project, as it required an entirely new first floor fortification. We are nearly 90% complete with this project, and only $1800 away from our goal!
How did this come into play? In the summer of 2013 we sat around the table dreaming and casting our vision for the work in Kenya. What would God have us do? As God led, we jotted down:
Phase I - Sponsorship Program
Phase 2 - Vocational Training and Micro-finance
Phase 3 - Hire additional help in Kenya to work with the women & oversee the program (Women's Director)
Phase 4 - Establish a safe house/vocational center
Phase 5 - Expand our program to other areas of Kenya, peoples/nations
The exciting part of all this is....upon our return home from our February 2016 mission God has accomplished phases 1-3!! It wasn't easy to get to this point, but God is faithful and we now see a strong foundation to build on and a catalyst for future development in Thika, and other areas! We are grateful and excited about the future!
